| The History and Timeline of Japankore.net
May 2003:
Cypher starts playing around with HTML and starts coding website layouts on his computer.
Everything was all self taught. He's computer knowledge increases within the year.
March 2004:
Physin sees the stupidity of other forums and starts to form a vision of his own. Both him and Cypher was tired of being in other forums and wanted a place of their own.
May 2004:
Cypher and Physin shared similar visions and wanted to create a website with direct downloadable PVs instead of torrents and other P2P stuff because there wasn't any site with direct download PVs. Later on they wanted to show the world the greatness of Japanese Music. They started to collect Jpop/Jrock and Visual KEI PVs.
June 2004:
Physin wanted to put out their vision online to everyone. Cypher wanted to put his coding skills to the test by actually making and putting a big website online for the first time! They wanted their own domain name and site! This was serious and desperate times. They went to see a person named Mean for some finacal help since they were poor and did not have a job.
Late June 2004:
Mean was excited about the concept and ideas. And was gladly willing to pay only if he can by the King of the new site. They all agreed and Cypher starts searching for a web hosting company. A project of 3 person was formed.
July 2nd, 2004:
The 3 discuss about the name of the new site they are planning to launch. They ended up with the name JapanKore.Net. Physin came up with the first slogan "The heart of all Japanese Entertainments". Cypher starts coding and designing the site. Mean supplies the money to pay for the site's domain and service.
July 8th, 2004:
Japankore.net went online for the first time! The site was just opened but they manage to get 150+ members registered in only 2 weeks. This was the first site that Cypher put online! And was the first big website he had worked on. Until today this was the first time Cypher worked on a message board. The advertisment by Cypher and Physin was great, the layout was ok, the tag line was great, the visitors number was good! The community was great. It was purely a successful opening from 3 guys who have really small knowledge in webmaking and online advertisement. It far pass their expectations.
August 2004:
PVs were uploading and direct downloads were starting to be available. Password was needed in order to download but they manage to have quite a few PVs online by the end of this month. Everybody in Japankore.net forum was having a great time and starting to getting to know each other.
September 2004:
They had new people signed in almost every 2-5 hours asking for the password to download. Cypher thought up of an idea to make a visual tutorial on how to download and how to get the password but yet interactable in a form of a game, where jkore users can have fun while learning. This idea was passed on to Physin and was later changed into the official Japankore.net RPG game. Physin wrote the story and take place as the main director and main event director, while Cypher take place as the main game programmer, planner and event designer. Cypher came up with the idea of using Japankore.net members as NPC(non-playable characters) within the game. Mean later came up with some idea to add in and the production of the game starts from here. Cypher begins to play around with some game creating software. With his quick learning ability it only take him 2 weeks to fully understand the software and how it works. Game Production starts there on September 25th 2004.
October 3rd, 2004:
After a week in production, Japankore.net the Game was finally released online in Japankore.net website. Only 2 people worked on this game and only took them 1 week to complete and finalized. This was the first and complete game they worked on. This could possibly be the most original idea ever thought of. The game creates lots of new Japankore.net fans! All who played it enjoyed it and wishes there would be a second game. The game was too short due to a rush in production to get it out as soon as possible. The Game give new meaning about getting password to download PVs from japankore.net.
October 12th, 2004
The very first Japankore.net contest was form. A free to enter contest for a chance to win a free CD of your choice from Japankore.net! The contest winner was a japankore.net forum's member named Reberion.
November 2004:
In only 3 months they had over 1000 registered members on their forum. Many were active and over 5000 unique hits! Later this month the website layout was upgraded to Version 2. New looks on both site and forum! More PVs was added to download. This was the golden time of Japankore.net.
Another contest was form, the Winter Contest! For a chance of thier members to win free CDs and DVDs.
December 19th, 2004:
On Dec. 19, 2004, Japankore.net was struck hard and crashed. Japankore.net died moments later. Everything was just gone over one night. They were hit by a newly webworm going around the Internet killing any active site with PHP vulnerability. They happens to be one of the victim of this new webworm. They had no backups, they did not expect something like this to happen and they had no other choice. This webworm was named Santy, as in SantaClaws in Christmas. Cypher worked hard restoring what could be restored. Everything he come up with failed. They later tried to get support from the hosting company their site was hosted on and still could not bring back what was there. Everything were lost, from forums' members, to their posts, to cotents and etc. It was a sad time for Japankore.net. The Winter Contest never came to light and was cancelled due to this crash.
January 2005:
From the death of Japankore.net Version 2 they came up with a new japankore.net site. All redesigned by Cypher from bottom - up. They called it Japankore.net Rebirth. Japankore.net version Rebirth was launched on the first day of 2005 with a whole new forum system(Vbulletin), more secured and more powerful than ever! From here on they were slowly getting back up. Due to the crash and dead site many had already left them. And they had to start all over trying to get people back. Rebirth did not get much traffics. The site's stats did not surpass their December rank.
Febuary 2005:
At this time PVs were being uploaded all over again. Continue to gather as much members back as they can but things were slow this time around… A new chat system using Flash was added to the site!
March 2005:
A new system was introduce and added to the site. A cash system called JK-Cash.
JK-Cash stands from Japankore.net Cash. A fake money system that was intergrated within the new forum. Each post a member made will get them a certain amount of JK-Cash. This system was use to access certain restricted areas within the board and download PVs. To heat things up even more, the Rebirth layout was upgraded to a much more shinier layout. Rebirth was turned into Rebirth 1.5
May 2005:
On May 28th of 2005 the site stats was back on track! They have passed their December stats with over 68000 hits in that month alone! Even with that, the board/forum activity were still slow.
July 8th, 2005:
July 8th of 2005, Japankore.net has been around for exactly one year. They update it with a new layout called "Reform" and offer a one week of public free downloads without any registration or password needed! Even normal visitors/guest can access the downloads. PVs were later temporary taken down due to some new development.
Skips to January 2006:
On January of 2006 they move on to a new hosting company due to some financial problems. Their site was offline for almost a month due to transferring. They moved from a dedicated sever and on to a shared sever which is much cheaper but worse in performance because the server is being shared with many other sites. However Shared Hosting is the only thing they can go with their budget at this time.
Feb. 11th, 2006:
Phoenix was born! a new Japankore.net came back with dark theme and was called Phoenix! Out from the ashes, they rise again! PVs were all taken down and offline. The Forum was completely wipe out and everything starts a new "again". Everything starts a new... Phoenix deliver a rush start with flares, fire, and a quick flash of activity! Once again JK is alive and well but after that quick flight things went slow and sad... Months later, a new phoenix was born to shine this site with its light... Apparently the 2nd phoenix didn't do so well either.
November 12th, 2006:
Japankore.net may a comeback! Better than ever with Veil!
